One baby or toddler poses a challenge to a day of normal activities; two babies often leave parents feeling strapped for time and confined to quarters. Check out safety features before you purchase a stroller or double stroller. Select a stroller with brakes that you can set when stopped. Safety harnesses are important to keep children secure and to prevent injuries; if you purchase a jogging stroller, it should have a safety strap that slips around the wrist to prevent a runaway stroller. Strollers with a wide base are less likely to tip over. Your stroller should have a locking mechanism that prevents accidental folding.

Scoping Out the Market There's no need to pass up a morning run when you own a jogging stroller. Double jogging strollers on the market can handle most terrains for fitness walks or runs. Look for a double jogging stroller with a steel frame and a locking option on the front wheel for more control. Jogging strollers give babies and toddlers the option of sitting up and enjoying the view, or napping while you are working out. Infants and toddlers can enjoy the out-of-doors and be protected from the harmful sun in a tandem stroller. Some models have peek-a-boo windows and retractable front canopies for a better view. Tandem double strollers work best when both children are about the same weight. Some have reversible seats so the kids can face each other; stadium seating allows both passengers to look forward. Insist on 5-point harnesses for safety, and lockable, easy-swivel front wheels.

Umbrella strollers have long been a favorite because they are lightweight, easy to open and close, and easily packed into the car. Bigger and better are double or duo umbrella strollers. Preferred features include individually reclining seats (some with up to five positions), adjustable footrests, five-point safety harnesses, and easy swivel wheels. Accessories like canopies and storage baskets add to the convenience of double umbrella strollers.
